Hi Mama,
Do you ever feel like you're juggling a million things for everyone else, and somewhere in the chaos, you got a little lost?
That was me last week. I got sick. My body felt weak and worn down. But even harder than the physical struggle was the way my mind felt out of control.
I had so many thoughts, all at once. I felt like I couldn’t keep up. I couldn’t stay calm. I felt far away from the real “me.”
For the last six months, I had been doing well. I felt strong. I could catch my thoughts when they came. I was patient with my partner and kid. But when I got sick, I lost that peace. It was hard to find my calm spot.
I wondered, "What happened to me?! Why do I feel so off?"
Then, as my body slowly started to mend, a quiet space opened up in my mind. And in that space, the realization landed like a gentle, yet powerful truth bomb. I realized I’d completely stopped taking care of my body. After a big move to a new state, my usual exercise routine just... disappeared. For a whole month, I wasn't paying much attention to my sleep, what I was eating, or moving at all. My body was tired and out of sorts. And it hit me hard: if my body isn’t supported, my mind can't be strong and centered. Our bodies are like the house our minds live in. If the house is shaky, it's hard for our minds to feel safe and calm.
So, as soon as I started to feel physically better, I decided to try something simple: I went back to moving my body. I danced (hello, Zumba!) almost every day.
And guess what? It was like flipping a switch! As I started nourishing and moving my body again, my brain began to settle. The busy thoughts were still there, but I could handle them without getting lost in the overwhelm. I started to feel like myself again, back in my calm space.
It became so clear: Taking care of our bodies is a HUGE helper for our brains and how we feel inside. To feel steady and calm, we need to help our bodies too!

Here’s What Helps Me Feel Like ‘Me’ Again ( And Might Help You Too)
When overwhelm hits, it's hard in the moment to pause and ask, "What do I need?" But I’ve learned that when my body is looked after with these simple basics, I have more space to breathe and find that inner calm. Think of these as your foundation:
Prioritize sleep: Aiming for enough rest – around 7-8 hours is common, but find what makes you feel truly recharged.
Eat well: Choosing nourishing foods and trying to reduce sugar and carbs.
Move your body: Finding ways to move regularly, 3-5 times a week (I love Zumba — my partner loves yoga. You can do what makes you feel good.)
Remember This, Dear Mama (And Anyone Feeling This Way!)
When you feel lost, tired, or short-tempered — it doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means you need care. You don’t need to fix everyone else. You just need to come back to yourself.
You already love your family. You just need to feel like you again.
So, when overwhelm whispers, don't try to conquer the whole mountain at once. Just look to your foundation.
Start small. Maybe just five extra minutes of rest tonight. Choose one nourishing thing to eat. Step outside for a slow walk around the block.
Return to your basics, one simple step at a time.
That is where your steady ground, your inner calm, truly lives.
With love and sending you calm vibes!
