Oh, Sikieng, there are so many truths in your beautiful article. I can imagine the surprised look on my mother’s face if she were to read this. But the distance is enormous.

I can only hope that, as a parent, I provide this type of love to my daughter. I am at least trying very hard to release my expectations and not burden her with them.

I wish all parents could read this and, more importantly, feel and live it.

Really appreciated this part: [Children] need us to be so deeply in love with them, so fully present, that they never doubt their worth for a single moment.

I'm not a mother (yet!) but these insights are really profound, especially as I'm starting to think about starting a family with my partner. Thank you for sharing your experience and perspective so beautifully.
